The exercise which is geared towards restocking the blood bank of the Bolgatanga hospital was instituted as an annual event as a response to the distress call from the National Transfusion Service in time past about the perennial blood shortage at the facility.

Speaking to a1radioonline.com on the sidelines of the exercise, Northern sector Manager of MTN Ghana, Mr. Bukari James Basintale disclosed that this year’s edition of the Save a Life Project dubbed “Operation 2017” is a prelude to the celebration of MTN Foundation’s 10th Anniversary.

He mentioned that it is his hope that “this year’s exercise raises 2,017 pints of blood to save a pregnant woman who needs blood to save herself and her baby or that uncle, brother or mother who needs blood to survive”.
