B-Poly Alumni Elect New Executives

Bolgantanga Polytechnic Alumni over the weekend successfully elected Adama Muntala as national president during its national delegates congress. Out of a total number of 209 registered alumni in good standing, Mr. Adama obtained 75 votes out of the total valid votes of 144. He beat his contenders Stephen Adongo who obtained 43 and Thomas Ayipaala who managed to obtain 29 out of the total valid votes casts.

The delegates congress which had scheduled to start at 10 am on Saturday ended up starting at 3pm due to heated arguments on the election modus operandi. It will be recalled that members earlier this month met to elect new leaders but failed as a result of voting rights per the alumni constitution.

The Bolgatanga Alumni is an association that exists to promote the welfare and interest of its graduants.

The newly elected national president, Adama Muntala in an exclusive interview with A1radioonline pledged to create a welfare fund with seed money for the wellbeing of members of the association. According to him establishing a data base system that will enable alumni to register online and support towards the improvement of their alma mater.

A permanent and functional secretariat according to Mr. Adama will be set up to help address some issues of the alumni constitution.  In order to mobilize old students across the length and breadth of the region to support their alma mater, he disclosed plans to establish branches in all districts of the region.

To ensure accountability of the association, Mr. Adama promised to create with the support of the other executives an online publication of dues paid by members. Tenders for the execution of projects will be opened for the bidding of the public.  He promised to tap into the knowledge and ideas of other contenders who lost the just ended elections to improve the association and the school at large while assuring an open door administration.

Outgoing general secretary of the polytechnic alumni, Stanley Abopam said contributions made during the Joseph Apakre led administration includes the drafting of workable constitution and the instigation of an excellent wards scheme for students who distinguished themselves in various fields of study since 2014. The creation of an office space and a bank account for a smooth running of affairs of the association according to Mr. Abopam forms part of gains made by the Apakre led administration.

Other persons who were elected to the position of the polytechnic alumni were Peter Atohoba Anyoka, Vice president elect, Modesta Ayelazoya Women’s Commissioner elect, Botee Roland General Secretary elect, Awuni Marcellinus organizer elect.

The rest are Gifty Nsoh Public Relation Officer elect, Evans Osman Petey won the position of financial secretary, Mark Abugbire elected deputy general secretary and Ayorigo Thomas elected deputy organizing secretary.
