The Minister of State at the presidency in charge of Public Procurement, Adwoa Safo, has said the Mahama-led administration abused the sole-sourcing element of the procurement laws.
According to her, the Mahama-led administration deliberately used sole-sourcing rather than competitive bidding to steal state funds.
Ms Safo was speaking at a training session on Public Procurement for Ministers and Agencies.
Ms. Safo who was furious about the impunity with which the policy was abused, said it is the “most abused policy ever introduced by government and we are aware of how the previous government unjustifiably took advantage of it to loot state money.”
Touching on the ongoing training, she said the exercise is aimed at sanitizing government procedures, to make it more transparent and “less prone to corruption which hitherto had bedeviled the government procurement processes”.
