
The Ghana Institute of Languages (GIL) on Wednesday held a matriculation ceremony for its students in the Upper East Region who will pursue Arabic Diploma Sandwich program for the 2014/2015 academic year.
The Matriculation took place at Bolgatanga Central mosque. It was the first of its kind for the institute to lunch the program and as well matriculate its students in the region.
Speaking at the event, Vice Head of Tamale branch of the institution, Benjamin Gbeglo expressed satisfaction on how the students shown efforts to be among the matriculants. He congratulated the students for making the Ghana Institute of languages their choice to pursue their academics career.
In all 50 students comprising 44 males and 6 females have been offered admission to the institute. A certificate of Diploma in Arabic will be issued to successful students after the 2 year course upgrading them to professional Arabic teachers.
Upper East Deputy Regional Minister, Daniel Syme on the occasion expressed to the institute for extending the program to the region. Mr. Syme pledged the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) support to the Institute when the need arise. Deputy Upper East Regional Director of Education, Raymond Abatanie also pledged to support Ghana Institute of Languages (GIL) to carry out its activities in other to improve quality education in the region.
