Customers of DKM micro-finance in the upper east region have raised concerns over the limited number of validated names of claimants in the region in the ongoing payment process of affected depositors with the defunct micro finance.
According to the aggrieved customers, over 6,000 DKM depositors in the region were affected but only 998 names were published as persons duly validated and qualified to receive claims.
“How did you arrive at the 998 names from the upper east with a lot of repetition? What accounted for the small number of validated names? Are you trying to tell the whole world that the peace loving people from the Upper East region are not hugely affected by this national disaster? A statement issued by the group questioned.
“We are looking forward to our deposit as previously stated by the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama and the Governor of the Bank of Ghana Dr. Abdul –Nasiru Issahaku,” they added

PRESS CONFERENCE BY THE AGGRIEVED CUSTOMERS OF DKM MICRO-FINANCE COMPANY IN THE UPPER EAST REGION DATED WEDNESDAY 12TH October 12, 2016 ON THE RELEASE OF VALIDATED DKM LISTS BY THE OFFICIAL LIQUIDATOR, MADAM JEMIMA OWARE, WE ARE UNHAPPY
The media, Ladies and Gentlemen, Good morning.
We the Aggrieved DKM customers in the Upper East Region have called you here today, to use you as the channel to express our distrust to the Official Liquidator on the verified list submitted and published for payment of DKM customers.
Madam Liquidator, we were very happy when you took time off your busy schedule to meet with us last month Thursday the 22nd of September, 2016, at the Bolgatanga Jubilee Park, where we appealed to you to ‘use human face’ in all your dealings, and you gladly responded that, you were doing exactly that. We waited patiently and listened to all the plans you outlined for paying our monies. We have no doubt that you are struggling to fulfill your promises seeing that you were not able to publish and make payments on the earlier date.
We in the Upper East Region feel very disappointed to know that, you published only 998 names out of the over 6,000 DKM creditors from the region.
Madam Liquidator, what system or formula did you use to come out with this scanty number? How did you arrive at the 998 names from Upper East with a lot of repetitions? What accounted for the small number of validated names? Are you trying to the whole world that the peace loving people from the Upper East Region are not hugely affected by this national disaster?
Madam, Liquidator, our research indicates that;
- You were given book that contain the names and account details of all the DKM customers from the Upper East Region, Please, did you use those books in the release of the 998 names? If no, why?
- You were told that Bolgatanga High Court has ordered that DKM computers and servers containing account details of customers were in the custody of the Upper East Regional Police Command, please have you taken delivery of these items? If no, can you please explain why? How did you get these 998 names without the server?
- Madam, Liquidator, we from this region feel very much cheated, insulted and disrespected by this very action. We hope it is not a deliberate ploy to throw dust into our eyes and use the few 998 customers as an avenue to gain point from the Government that DKM customers have been paid.
Meanwhile Madam Liquidator, we wish you could come clear on how much you are paying DKM customers; we are looking forward to our deposit as previously stated by the President of the Republic of Ghana; His Excellency John Dramani Mahama and the Governor of Bank of Ghana; Dr.Abdul- Nasiru Issahaku.
We hope that a more appropriate list (which is a true reflection of) DKM customers from the Upper East region is published as soon as possible.
We want to believe that, the President; H.E. John Dramani Mahama and the Governor of BoG; Dr.Abdul-Nasiru Issahaku and all who matter, are observing the proceedings and they will not remain silent on this debilitating issue; we know that DKM clients interest still matters to all well-meaning Ghanaians.
Thank You
…Signed….
