The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, has deployed tractors to support vulnerable farmers in the constituency under his “Grassroots Integrated Agriculture Project” as the planting season peaks.
The intervention will provide free ploughing services to needy households, ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent farmers from preparing their lands on time.
According to the MP, the initiative is designed to reduce the cost and labour burden of land preparation, improve productivity, and strengthen food security and community resilience across Bolgatanga Central.
Speaking days before the exercise began, Mr. Adongo reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive development. “Agriculture is the heartbeat of our constituency. By supporting our farmers, we are not only securing food for our families but also building a stronger, more self-reliant Bolgatanga Central,” he said.
The ploughing exercise, which commenced in the Sumbrungu enclave, has been described by community leaders and beneficiaries as timely and impactful. They say it offers real hope to households that would otherwise struggle to cultivate their farms.
The project, Mr. Adongo says, is pursuing a vision where compassion and progress advance together. “We need a constituency where opportunities are extended to all, regardless of circumstance.”
Aboyom Job, the Bolgatanga Central Communications Officer of the NDC, said the tractors will move to multiple communities in the coming weeks to ensure equitable access to the service.
According to Mr. Aboyom, the movement schedule for the tractors to other parts of the constituency will be circulated soon for the attention of farmers.
