The Ghana Police Service in the Upper East Region has intensified security operations across the region, leading to the arrest of several suspects linked to various criminal activities.
Speaking in an interview on Bolga FM on June 23, 2026, the Upper East Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Sumaila Abdul-Rahman, said the ongoing operations form part of efforts to clamp down on crime and improve public safety.
“We have arrested a number of suspects involved in various criminal activities, and most of them are being prepared for prosecution before the courts,” Chief Inspector Abdul-Rahman said.
He did not disclose the exact number of suspects arrested but indicated that investigations and prosecution processes are underway.
Chief Inspector Abdul-Rahman also called on members of the public to take an active interest in cases they report to the police, stressing that public involvement remains crucial to successful prosecutions.
“People should not only report crime and go back home to sleep. When a suspect is arrested, complainants should show interest in the case and follow up to ensure that it is prosecuted in court,” he stated.
He further encouraged residents to save police emergency contact numbers on their phones and promptly report suspicious activities within their communities.
“It is important for everyone to have the police emergency numbers and report any suspicious persons or activities in their communities. Prompt reporting helps us respond quickly and keep our communities safe,” he added.
The police spokesperson reminded the public that the national police emergency number, 191, remains available for reporting crimes and requesting police assistance across the country.
Chief Inspector Abdul-Rahman reaffirmed the commitment of the Ghana Police Service to maintaining law and order, emphasizing that effective policing depends on strong collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the public.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with the police by providing timely information that can help prevent crime and protect lives and property.
