The Upper East Regional Director of Education, Razak Z. Abdul-Korah, has cautioned students of Awe Senior High Technical School (SHTS) against indiscipline, urging them to channel their grievances through appropriate authorities rather than resorting to actions that disrupt academic activities.
Mr. Abdul-Korah said discipline remains essential to academic success and peaceful coexistence within educational institutions. He made the remarks when he interacted with students and staff of the school ahead of a Board of Governors meeting on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.
The engagement also provided an opportunity for the Ghana Education Service (GES) management to engage the school community following a student demonstration on December 5, 2025.
Addressing the students, the Regional Director said the government and the Ghana Education Service maintained a zero-tolerance position on indiscipline in schools.
He warned that students who engage in misconduct or violate GES regulations would face appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with established rules and procedures.
Mr. Abdul-Korah urged the students to remain focused on their education, respect school authorities and use the appropriate channels to raise concerns. He said resorting to demonstrations or other forms of misconduct could undermine teaching and learning and ultimately affect the academic progress of students.
The Regional Director also commended teachers at Awe SHTS for their contribution to the academic and moral development of the students and encouraged them to continue mentoring and guiding learners.
He called on both students and staff to work together to maintain a peaceful and conducive environment for teaching and learning.
