The Daliga-Kunkua community in the Bongo District is expected to benefit from a computer laboratory and football park with support from the Coastal States Stability Mechanism, District Chief Executive Diana Asoketarige Ayamga has announced.
The projects form part of interventions aimed at improving educational and recreational facilities in communities across the district.
Madam Ayamga disclosed the planned projects during an interview on Bolga FM’s Tinmaalgo Sanga on Friday.
She said the computer laboratory would support access to information and communication technology education, while the football park would provide a recreational facility for young people in the community.
The DCE expressed appreciation to the Coastal States Stability Mechanism (CSSM) for its support to the Bongo District and called for continued collaboration to address other development needs.
CSSM has supported several interventions in the district, including the rehabilitation of the Bongo District Police Station and the provision of 10 motorcycles to improve police mobility.
Madam Ayamga also highlighted interventions by WaterAid Ghana aimed at improving access to potable water in the district.
According to her, WaterAid Ghana has supported the drilling of four mechanised boreholes as well as the installation of hand pumps in communities across Bongo.
She said the facilities would improve access to safe drinking water and reduce some of the difficulties residents face in obtaining potable water.
Madam Ayamga commended WaterAid Ghana, CSSM and other development partners for supporting the district’s development efforts.
She, however, said Bongo continued to have infrastructure and social development needs that the Assembly could not address alone.
The DCE therefore appealed to nongovernmental organisations, development partners and other stakeholders to collaborate with the Assembly to address those challenges.
She said the Bongo District Assembly would continue seeking partnerships to improve education, potable water supply, sports and other essential services for residents.
