The Kassena-Nankana West District Assembly plans to engage dedicated sweepers to improve sanitation and waste management at markets across the district.
District Chief Executive Stephen Akurugu Aeke disclosed the plan during an interview on Bolga FM’s Tinmaalgo Sanga programme.
According to him, the Assembly is taking steps to strengthen sanitation at market centres by engaging people specifically to sweep and help maintain cleanliness.
Mr. Aeke said keeping the markets clean would require cooperation among the Assembly, traders, customers and other stakeholders.
He said the intervention is intended to improve waste management and provide cleaner environments for people who trade and conduct other activities at the markets.
The DCE called on market users to complement the Assembly’s efforts by disposing of waste responsibly and helping to maintain cleanliness at the various market centres.
