The Upper East regional Minister, Rockson Bukari has said he has nothing to do with the relocation of the proposed airstrip for the Upper East region.
A visit by the Aviation Minister to the Upper East region sparked controversy when she visited Sherigu instead of Sumbrungu Anateem which has been earmarked over the years for the airstrip.
Chiefs, elders and residents of Sumbrungu organized series of Press Conferences and were counted by the people of Sherigu who also indicated that they also deserve an airstrip.
Blames were heaped on the Minister for masterminding the change in location for the project to suit his parochial interest.
But speaking at the maiden edition of the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly’s town hall meeting, the Minister said he has nothing to do with the proposed relocation of the airstrip.
“I was not even in office when this happened. I am not a technical man, I am not a scientist so when they test this and they say this is not good, I don’t have anything to say about it. Investors will not come to places where there is controversy so we will not move. Please, investors want to come to places where there is peace so please if you hear something come and ask.”
