SIEMENS AND VOLKSWAGEN TO ESTABLISH ASSEMBLING PLANTS IN GHANA SOON -PRESIDENT AKUFO-ADDO ASSURES

The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has made it clear that the German amass companies; Siemens AG and Volkswagen which are the largest industrial manufacturing companies in the European Union will soon announce their presence to establish assembling plants in Ghana.

The President made this known when he delivered his speech at the ongoing G-20 Compact with Africa Conference, held in Berlin, Germany on Tuesday, 30 October, 2018.

As part of his key note, the President explained the efforts his government is putting in place to creating the ambling environment for the private sector to flourish.

“My government is not resting on its oars. It is working hard to attract investments either domestic or foreign into the country. So, at the end of the day, government can unleash the sense of enterprises, creativities and innovations into the minds of Ghanaian. And by so doing, it will help build a progressive, prosperous Ghana, whose citizens will live in harmony and security,” he said.

The President also indicated that after spending 21 months in office, his Government has initiated and implemented policies that are encouraging and empowering for the private sector to grow within the framework of macroeconomic stability in the Ghanaian economy.

“My government believes that when the private sector flourishes, and when our enterprises become more competitive, not just on the continent, but also in the global market space definitely, it can create thousands of jobs for the teeming masses of unemployed youth crave,” he added.

Akufo Addo commended the German Chancellor, Frau Angela Merkel, for convening the conference, and assured her that Ghana is delighted with Germany’s decision to re-orient its policy and relationship with Ghana as well as Africa.

“My Government’s vision of moving Ghana to a situation beyond aid, for example ‘Ghana Beyond Aid’, is aligned to Germany’s Compact. In fact, my leadership is determined to discard the mindset of dependence on aid, charity and handouts, and aim towards becoming self-reliant, within the context of strong global co-operation,” he said.
