A retired public servant, Emmanuel Aphour has picked nomination forms to contest the Bolgatanga Central Constituency primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Mr. Aphour revealed that there have been divisions in the party after the 2015 primaries which saw Rex Asanga emerging winner.

But as a matter of urgency to wrestle power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), he hopes to unite members of the party from the grassroots to the top in the constituency.

“I stand to be corrected, but it looks as if the party is divided on the likes of Amiyuure camp and Rex camp. So I want to try to get to see if I can put the party back together”.

Mr. Aphour who spoke exclusively to A1 News after picking forms to contest the party’s primaries admitted a stiff competition in the parliamentary race said “the rounds that I went, it was overwhelm on the ground [and] people told me that, if I don’t come out to contest, they are likely going to vote ‘skirt and blouse’”.

Mr. Aphour who expressed optimism of winning the primaries however pledged to support any candidate who emerges winner after the party’s primaries.
