Leaderships of communications teams of Ghana’s main political parties in the Upper East Region have pledged to promote inter-party interactions to enhance inter-party unity ahead of the 2020 general elections in the country.

Ghanaians will go to the polls on December 7, 2020, to elect a president and 275 parliamentarians. Ahead of the elections, communications teams of the various political parties are key stakeholders in propagating the messages of their parties. However, unity among the rank and file of these parties is paramount; and that is what the communicators seek to achieve.

The communicators made the pledged when management of A1 Radio invited them to have an introspection of their contributions in past and how to prepare for the task for this year. Held at the conference hall of A1 Radio at Tindonsobligo in the Bolgatanga Municipality, the meeting brought together regional communications officers and their deputies of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), National Democratic Congress (NDC), Convention People’s Party (CPP), Progressive People’s Party (PPP) and People’s National Convention (PNC).

Regional Communications Officer of the CPP, Richard Adongo, urged his colleagues to be mindful of their responsibility to communicate facts because the public is discerning and will take them on if they want to twist facts for political gains.

While calling for more inter-party interactions among the communicators, Mr. Adongo also encouraged them to read wide and do research before featuring on radio talk shows so as to enrich their deliveries.

Other communicators including Sanusi Issah, Regional Communications Officer of the NPP and S-Ahmed Tijani, Regional Communications Officer of the NDC, associated themselves with the inputs of Mr. Adongo.

Other attendees included; Albert Adongo, PNC, Sunday Gaspad Kampoli, NDC, Maxwell Akanwe, NDC, Starling Ayinenongma Baba, PPP, Johnson Ayine, NPP and Smuel Akonga, NPP.

The representatives of the parties present at the meeting are expected to meet with their communications teams members and to brief them on the way forward.

General Manger of A1 Radio, William Nlanjerbor JALULAH, who chaired the meeting, assured the communicators and their parties that as a media house; A1 Radio remains politically neutral and will maintain so before and beyond the elections.
