Builsa South District has made Upper East Region Proud- DCE

Builsa South District has beaten all 13 districts in the Upper East Region to make it to the number one position in the performance contract assessment’s ranking by the Local Government and Rural Development Ministry.

The District has been placed on the 10th position out of the 216 districts while, placing first in the Upper East Region with a rating of 94.13% with Kassena-Nankana West scoring second and  17th (92.63%) position nationwide. Builsa North also made it to the 18th (92.56%)  mark and third in the region. The rest are;Bawku West 25th ( 91.65%) , Kassena Nankana Municipal 35th (89.50%), Bongo 58th (86.56%), Bolgatanga Municipal 61st (85.83%), Garu-Tempane 97(81.69%), Pusiga 111th (80.56%), Nabdam 138th (77.75%), Bawku Municipal 144th (76.75%), Binduri 169 (71.19%) and Talensi scored 177 (70.38%).

Speaking in interview on Daybreak Upper East, the outstanding DCE in the region, Hon. Kwame Gariba expressed gratitude to his Team of Technocrats at the Builsa South District and stated that he will continue to work assiduously to meet his plan of actions for the next Performance Contract assessment.  

“It is a humbling achievement for the District, yes I lead the process here but it is the  team work that  gives you this results that we are seeing at the moment…and for me  that has been my key point that when you work as a team then the results you will get at the end of the day , will be far more than when I decide to lead everything myself. And it is an achievement that im happy about and I thank the team who have supported me to attain this feat for the region that when they are looking for the top 10 at least we have found ourselves on the list. Yes Builsa south has made the region proud” he noted.

The Office of the Head of Local Government Service(OHLGS) has successfully assessed and evaluated the outcomes of Performance Contracts (PCs) signed between the Metropolitan Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) and their Coordinating Directors ,their deliverables were based on the mandate of Assemblies as expressed in their planned activities for the year under consideration under the PCs.

There were seven key performance areas and these included: General Administration, Human Resources Management, Financial Management and Reporting Infrastructure. The rest were Social Services, Economic Development, Environment and Sanitation. In all, a total of 35 Key Performance indicators (KPIs) were used to evaluate performance for all the Key Performing Areas (KPAs). The assessment was undertaken by teams of independently monitored and validated reports submitted by all the Assemblies.
