Former Lands and Natural Resources Minister under the John Mahama’s administration, Inusah Fuseini has taken government on for failing to fight illegal mining known popularly as “galamsey”.

According to him , President Nana Akufo Addo and his government have not shown convincing commitment in fighting illegal mining which has destroyed many water bodies and farmlands in the country.

The Former Minister added that , his administration saw a more pragmatic and evident based approached in fighting galamsey as compared to what is being witnessed in the system now.

Mr.Fuseini who was speaking on Daybreak Upper on recent revelations about some missing excavators seized from galamsey activities which have been reportedly sold to NPP members to go into illegal mining said , the manifestations expose the realty on the grounds.

What has happened within the NPP is simply this , because they have made the system political ,political actors have taken advantage so they can not go against some of the persons who are doing the illegal mining because of their political coloration .If you know the names been mentioned that is why galamsey could not succeed. It was just an attempt to change the actors because the NPP believes that those they came to meet in the field because they picked their licenses during the time NDC, they are NDC . I said it so many times… today galamsey has been seen because of what has happened” he stated

Commenting on the missing tricycles at the Northern Development Authority (NDA), the Tamale Central MP said he was not surprised about the incident because the action shows the symptomatic “property grabbing” agenda of the NPP.
