COVID-19: PHD Student donates PPE to Zebilla Hospital

A native of Kpantarigu community in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region who is currently pursuing International Relations at Jackson School of International Studies of the University of Washington, Seattle, in the United States of America has donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including some medical essentials to Zebila Hospital to help in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic.

The items, valued at GH¢ 2,000.00 included two boxes of carbolic soap, two boxes of industrial bleach, five boxes of disposal nose masks, and a gallon of alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

Francis Abugbilla, a 33-year-old had the items presented on his behalf by his friend, Napoleon Akolgo who observed that the destruction caused by Covid-19 pandemic in the world including Ghana is a major threat to the human race. This, he said called for concerted in dealing with the virus.

He commended health workers in Ghana for laying down their lives on daily basis to ensure proper care is given to their clients in these difficult times.

Mr Abugbilla appealed to Ghanaians, especially those in the diaspora to support the fight against Covid-19 by supporting the hospitals with essential equipment enable them win the fight.

It would be recalled that last year, Mr Abugbilla donated Solar Panels to a cluster of basic schools in Kpantarigu community to aid pupils to learn at night and  also to power computers for ITC lessons.

Administrator of Zebilla Hospital, Samuel Atuba, who received the items on behalf of the hospital, showered appreciations on the donor and his friends in the USA for the kind and timely gesture. He described the gesture as a bug boost to the facility in the fight against the novel virus as he assured the items would be put to good use.

Mr Atuba called on individuals and organizations to emulate the gesture of the USA-based student by also coming to the aid of the hospital.
