Victims of the heavy rainstorm which occurred two weeks ago at the Soe Awukbiisi community in the Bongo District of the Upper East region say they have been left stranded after the incident.
This has made the victims numbering over 200 homeless and fear of cruel conditions ahead of the heavy rains approaching.
Speaking to A1 News, the Assembly member of the Soe-Awukubisi Electoral area, Awuure Daniel has expressed worries that some of the victims may have serious psychological trauma if authorities fail to help them as majority of them finding shelter in classrooms.
But Bongo District Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organization(NADMO) Clement Akongo though not pleased with the situation,said his outfit was working tirelessly with other relevant authorities to render the needed help that can sustain the victims during the rainy season.
“After filing the report, I sent it straight to our regional quarter to further deliver it to the national office. Which I believe by now the National level are aware of the incident, and we hope to see the support they can render to the victims”.
He added that his outfit does not have the resources to immediately tackle the situation.He called on affected persons to remain calm while authorities work on fixing the situation.
