The Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Joseph Amiyuure Atura, has challenged Isaach Adongo, Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central Constituency, to show proof of what he uses his MP’s Common Fund for.

According to the MCE, though the fund is always released to the MP, he does not know what the MP uses the fund for.

He quizzed, “I want to know what exactly the Member of Parliament, Isaac Adongo, is using his common fund for, because every month he comes for it yet nothing is happening. We have seen his colleagues using their common funds to empower and provide the basic amenities for the people who elected them but the same cannot be said about my brother [Isaac Adongo].”

Speaking to A1 Radio during the inauguration ceremony of a 50-member campaign team of the New Patriotic Party in the Bolgatanga Central Constituency, Mr Amiyuure,  said he was surprised that the MP only knows theoretical economic yet cannot put it in to practice when it comes to development.

He said, “When we say someone is good at something, it means the person is competent in handling it both theoretically and practically but here is the case, my own brother [Isaac Adongo] claimed he knows economics yet cannot put it in to practice. Then, what is the basis of mentioning figures when at your own constituency you cannot pinpoint a single project as your achievement? It is sad to say.”

According to the MCE, he was surprised to hear that the Member of Parliament with his knowledge in economics failed to attend to the basic needs of his own community members which led them to labor for years in search of potable water.

The situation the MCE said took the intervention of the assembly through the NPP government to provide the community with four boreholes.

Addressing members of the campaign team, Mr. Amiyuure entreated them to campaign based on the performance of the government which he claimed has met the expectations of everyone in the municipality in terms of provision of basic amenities to various communities as compared to the previous NDC government.

“I want to let you know that if it is about performance, the New Patriotic Party has contributed a lot to the betterment of our people. And there is no community within the municipality that has not received the share of the National cake under the New Patriotic Party and I have all the records.”
