EC TO DONATE ELECTION EQUIPMENT AFTER DECEMBER POLLS

The Electoral Commission (EC) has hinted that it may be compelled to donate some of the equipment procured for elections after the December 7 polls.

According to a story published on Gbcghanaonline.com, Chairperson of EC, Jean Mensa argued that such equipment cannot be dormant for four years when other organizations may need them for urgent use.

She reportedly made the comments at a forum in Accra.

It is however unclear the specific equipment the EC intends to give out and to who?

Ghana goes to the polls on Monday, December 7, 2020, in what will be the eighth successive elections in the fourth republic.

There are 11 political parties and one independent candidate on the presidential ballot.

Following the balloting event for positions on the ballot paper held on Tuesday, 0ctober 20, at the head office of the EC, the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) emerged number one while the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) was two.

The rest of the parties came in the following sequential order; Ghana Union Movement (GUM), Convention People’s Party (CPP), Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP), All People’s Congress (APC) and the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG).

The rest are as follows People’s National Convention (PNC), Progressive People’s Party (PPP), National Democratic Party (NDP) and an Independent Candidate as number 12.

Meanwhile, some 5 out of the 17 presidential aspirants who files their nominations were disqualified.
