Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has stated that government in the last 3 years has completed 688 out of a total of 1,488 developmental projects in the Upper East Region.

He disclosed this while addressing a durbar of chiefs and people of Mirigu in the Kassena- Nankana West District as part of his 3-day campaign tour of the Upper East Region.

Though, Dr.  Bawumia did not give further details on the specific projects and their locations, he said they could be pointed out if the need be.

This statement followed an earlier comment he made during his speech when he paid a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of Sirigu traditional area in the same district where he noted that government under the leadership of President Akufo-Addo had performed far better in its 4-years than the entire 8-year rule of the NDC.

According to him, the NPP government was poised to deliver on its campaign promises; unlike the NDC regime where guinea fowls fled to neighboring Burkina Faso.

Paramount Chief of Sirigu Traditional Area, Naba Roland Akwara Atogumdeya III, used the occasion to thank government for the introduction of social intervention policies such as the free SHS and Planting for Food and Jobs; which according to him are transforming lives in the Sirigu community and the country as a whole.

Naba Atogumdeya III also appealed to government for a separate constituency or district to cater for the Eastern part of the existing Kassena-Nankana West District.

Day 1 of the Vice president’s tour will end at the Kanssena- Nankana Municipality.

On the second day, he is expected to visit Bazua in the Binduri District where he will inspect a Mechanized Infantry Battalion and interact with chiefs and people of the area.

He will later proceed to Zaare in Garu District and Bugri in Tempani District.

Dr. Bawumia on the last day of his tour will visit Bongo, Sakoti in Nabdam District, Zurungu in Bolga East District and finally round up at Sherga in the Talensi District.
