Ghanaian politicians have been advised to be measured in their promises when campaigning for election into office.
According to the Techiman Traditional Council, it would be better for a politician to make few promises and achieve them than make so many promises that would not be attained at the end of the day.
Recent elections in Ghana have been characterized by what many describe as situations where politicians are willing to promise anything to get elected.
Some of such promises by politicians are so unrealistic that only their most loyal supporters actually believe they will come to fruition.
The passage of time has revealed the failure of politicians to deliver on the outrageous promises the made; based on which they were elected into power.
Worried about this growing development in the country, Spokesperson for the President of the Techiman Traditional Council, Omanhene Osei Ameyaw Ekumfi, has admonished politicians to be measured in their campaign promises.
He made this call in Techiman last Friday, when the Independent Candidate in this year’s presidential race, Alfred Kwame Aseidu paid a courtesy call on the Techiman Traditional Council as part of his one week campaign tour of the Bono, Ahafo, Ashanti and Northern regions.
He urged politicians to make few promises and work towards achieving them rather than so many promises that cannot be fulfilled at the end of the day.
Omanhene Ameyaw Ekumfi also expressed the council’s excitement about what he said were the many brilliant policies of Mr. Walker and prayed for his success.
The Independent Candidate who is being accompanied by his running mate, Joseph Osei Yeboah and other executives members of the independent movement stated among other things that sustainable job creation, women empowerment, decent accommodation for the poor, modernizing waste management and abolishing okada business as crucial to him if he is voted into power.
He therefore entreated Ghanaian electorates to vote for him and his movement to properly develop the country; since according to him, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have failed to do so over the years.
