In their bid to jostle for the right hand side of the speaker of Parliament, Members of Parliament on the side of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) went to the chamber of Parliament on Friday January 15, 2021 as early as 3:00am.

Interestingly however, the willingness of their souls could not be sustained because their bodies were weak. Pictures circulating on social media reveal how some of the MPs fell as sleep in the chamber.

Gabby Otchere-Darko of NPP in a twitter post said one of the MPs sent a message informing indicating that they arrived in Parliament as early as 3:00am.

For the first time in the history of Ghana since the country returned to a democratic status in 1993, the two major parties – NPP and NDC and sharing equal number of parliamentary seats; 137:137 with one seat being occupied by an independent parliamentarian.

As a result, the two main parties are competing for the status of majority in the house.

It all started on the night of January 6 2021 when the old parliament was in the process of dissolution.
