The outgoing Upper East Regional Minister, Tangoba Abayage has pleaded with the people of the region to treat the Regional Minister-designate, Stephen Yakubu well.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Thursday January 21, 2021, named 16 persons pending parliamentary approval as regional ministers.

Additional 30 persons have also been designated as ministers for ministries.

In the Upper East Region, Ghana’s Ambassador to Morocco, Stephen Yakubu, has been designated as regional minister. The former Member of Parliament for Binduri would replace Madam Abayage, who became the first female regional minister in Upper East Region.

Shortly after the list of the appointees was released, Madam Abayage, now acting as the regional minister, took to her Facebook wall and pleaded with the people of the region to treat Mr Yakubu well.

She wrote, “Thank you very much Upper East Region. You loved me and l love you same.

Please treat my brother Stephen Yakubu well.

I will always be back!”

For now, it is unclear whether she will get an appointment in the second term of President Akufo-Addo or not.
