Minister of Information designate, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah who is one of the spokespersons for President Akufo-Addo in the ongoing election petition, has said that no matter how the petitioner, John Dramani Mahama, tries to manipulate the figures of the 2020 presidential election, the 2nd Respondent Akufo-Addo won by over 51 percent votes.

Speaking after the court hearing on February 1, 2021, Mr. Oppong Nkrumah maintained that the 1st Witness of the petitioner, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, who doubles as the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) could not defend in court “the supposed evidence” that was earlier held by the opposition party that it’s flagbearer, Mr. Mahama, won last year’s presidential polls.

He said “All we see today was exposure upon exposure on the side of the petitioner by his witness, the General himself. Also, exposed through vigorous cross-examination, is the claim that was being made that nobody won the election and you saw Lawyer Akoto Ampow over again raise the numbers and ask the witness to do the calculation himself and you saw him do the math on the witness box.”

“So, if you fried the figures, baked it, or cooked it, it is still 51 plus percent votes for the Second Respondent and about 47 for the petitioner.”

According to Mr. Oppong Nkrumah, per the court hearing today, his side is confident the NDC still does not have evidence to back its claims that the results of the 2020 election was flawed.

Mr. Mahama is in court challenging the outcome of last year’s presidential election results as declared by the Electoral Commission  (EC) on December 9; and asking for a re-run between him and Nana Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
