The Ghana Health Service has denied reports suggesting the country has recorded confirmed cases of the Ebola Virus Diseases (EVD).

A news article published on gh.opera.news claimed Ghana has recorded 7 cases of the Ebola, with three of the victims currently dead.

According to the report, a statement issued by the Ghana Health Service on February 15, confirmed the outbreak in Ghana.

But the Disease Surveillance Department of the Ghana Health Service has described the claim as “fake news.”

In a message on its verified Twitter handle on February 18, the health agency said “Ghana has not recorded any confirmed case of ebola neither has the country recorded any suspected cases.”

“The news about Ebola is as a result of some cases detected and confirmed in Guinea, a country in the West African Sub Region.” It added.

The message further admonished the public to desist from spreading fear; but remain calm as no confirmed cases of ebola have been recorded in the country.
