Deputy District Director of the National Disaster Management Organization in the Nabdam District of the Upper East Region of Ghana, Dominic Maaya over the weekend was shot and killed by masked armed men at the Pelungu market.
Residents of the area have called on authorities in the district to beef up security patrols and also commission the completed police post in the area.
But speaking to A1 Radio, the District Chief Executive for the Nabdam District, Agnes Namoo described the sad incident as unfortunate and vowed to put pragmatic measures in place to avert future occurrence.
A police post that was built in 2019 by the NDC Member of Parliament for the Nabdam Constituency, Dr. Mark Kurt Nawaane, but has not been put to use.
Dr Nawaane says the reason the building has not been put to use is purely partisan.
