The paramount chief of the Zuarungu Traditional Area, Naba Bilia Malitinga Afegrah III has called on politicians, especially those who hail from the Upper East Region to see the region’s growth as their top priorities.

The paramount chief who believes the region for past years has not seen any significant growth, noted that the two major parties, New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress have contributed to such poor growth.

Naba Bilia Malitinga Afegrah III was speaking at his palace at Zuarungu in the Bolgatanga East District when the Upper East Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu paid a courtesy call on him.

“We cannot say we have over the years got the needed growth that we wanted as a region. If any of you think I’m telling lies, I will use my traditional area as an example. This road in front of my palace started in 2015 and up to now, it has been abandoned. NDC and NPP have failed us as a region and we need to know that. As we speak, Upper East Region still doesn’t have a regional hospital nor an airport, isn’t it a shame? All these things bother us as people and traditional leaders.” Naba Afegrah III said.

The paramount chief also called on the Minister to consider completing the Bolgatanga-Bawku-Pulmakom road as it will help boost business activities in the region.

Upper East Regional Minister however noted that his tour of the paramountcies was to aid in building unity as well as seek guidance from the traditional authorities on how they can collectively help in developing the region.

Mr. Yakubu also assured the paramount chief of Zuarungu of his agenda of inclusiveness as he will not only focus on party supporters but the people of the region as a whole.
