The Executive Director of Northern Patriots in Research and Advocacy (NORPRA), Bismarck Adongo Ayorogo has said Ghana lacks the political will to fight illegal mining.
His comment comes on the backdrop of President Akufo-Addo’s call on participants of a two-day bi-partisan Consultative Dialogue on Small-Scale Mining to discuss illegal small-scale mining devoid of partisan politics, narrow and parochial interests.
Speaking on the issue on Daybreak Upper East show on A1 Radio, Mr. Mr Ayorogo, expressed worry that the government’s inability to fight ‘galamsey’ can be attributed to the lack of political will.
He is however optimistic that government’s efforts in fighting illegal mining will be a success if all hands are on deck to fight the menace.
