Following the recent robbery incidents and alleged killing of suspected armed robbers in Nyariga a suburb of the Bolgatanga Municipality of the Upper East region, a communication member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper East region Isaac Ayemvoa, has called on the Ghana Police Service in the region to fight armed robbery head on.

According to Mr Ayemvoa, in as much as community members needs to collaborate with the police in curbing the rising incidents the days of community watch committee policing and keeping watch to prevent crime is over because now robbers wield dangerous weapons such an AK 47 rifle which these community watch committee members do not have.

He questioned the rationale in going out to police your community at night which can easily result in your death from an armed thieve stating that society and crime have revolved so the police must muscle up against these criminals.

Mr Ayemvoa who was speaking at a studio discussion on DayBreak Upper East show on A1 Radio on April 19, 2021 said that, some community members are ready to help the Police with information about suspected criminals so that they can be apprehended.

He was quick to add that, the public is losing trust in the police because there are reports of suspects being released days after their arrest which makes community members feel that their efforts in helping the police to deal with the situation is in vain.
