The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has described as worrisome and awesome of which democracy is run in Ghana. According to the party, Multiparty Democracy is undoubtedly the best form of governance for the development of a country considering the peace and development countries elsewhere enjoys due to multiparty democracy system the countries practises.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Upper East Regional Treasurer of the Progressive People’s Party, Emmanuel Nsobila and copied to a1radioonline.
The party doesn’t understand why a country like Ghana which practiced democracy for close to a decade yet still wallow in the same old challenges.
NDC NPP ‘Politics’
Whiles commending countries like Japan, Mexico, Indonesia, Israel, Germany and several other Asian, Central American and island nations on multiparty system, the statement said ‘Ghana has decided to turn our multiparty democracy into a two party democracy’. With this according to Mr. Nsobila, Ghanaians have given the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) the luxury of alternating power and not acting to help the poor and the vulnerable in the country.
‘Today in Ghana life is only about what NDC and NPP do. NPP did this and NDC did that and NPP should stop talking because when they were in power, they did worse and NDC is now doing worse that NPP did so on and so forth’ it stated.
The PPP accused the two leading political parties in the country of conspiring to dupe and collapse the state.
According to the Upper East Regional treasurer of the party these two known political parties seem to be comfortable with the fact that if they lose elections, the longest they can stay out of government is 8 years. It is with this backdrop that the two parties (NDC & NPP) continue to blame each other for being the cause of the country’s misfortunes.
Fuel
On the pricing of fuel, the PPP reminded NPP and the NDC of the promises they made when in opposition yet when Ghanaians gave them power they increased fuel and even caused debts worth millions of cedis at Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) and Bulk Distribution Companies (BDCs).
Corruption
The statement further stated the NDC and President John Mahama for robbing Ghanaians in the daylight through the GYEEDA, SADA, SUBA, NSS corrupt scandals.
Comparing the two leading political parties in Ghana, Mr. Nsobila alleged ‘betrayal of trust by our leaders over the two decades we have been under democracy’. Some people have vowed never to vote again allotting to failures the NDC and NPP made to the development of the nation the press release stated.
The statement therefore urged Ghanaians not to be as ‘rubber stumps’ on party politics but rather vote for committed individuals who are progressive in mind for better lives and prosperity. The statement concluded by pressing on Ghanaians to cause a change in Ghana’s politics by giving the Progressive People’s Party the mandate to lead.
