If elections are won at the polling station level as supposed by Chairman of Ghana’s Electoral Commission, Dr. Kwadwo Afari Gyan during the 2012 election petition, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) youth group known as DAZOTA group was inaugurated in Bolgatanga to police polling stations in the Upper East Region during the 2016 general elections.
The name DAZOTA is a Gurune word meaning ‘be bold’. The group which has its motor ‘do the right thing’ was formed on November 3rd 2013. Members of the group are from Bolgatanga Municipal, Nabdam District, Bongo District and Talensi District making up of the BONABOTO catchment area.
Secretary of DAZOTA group, Asukuga Adongo George said the group was formed to ensure that integrity of the NPP party is protected.
Upper East Regional Chairman of the party, Adams Mahama who declared his undaunted support to the group called on members of the main opposition party in Ghana to remain united and work together for the interest of the party in order to bring it back in office come 2016.
Mr. Adams presented a new Honda motor bike at a cost of about ghc 3,000 to the group for smooth running of affairs of the group and the party.
