The Upper East Regional Hospital on Saturday 31st February 2015 witnessed a serious electricity blackout at its Out Patient Department (OPD). The light out which took several hours affected health delivery at the hospital. The light out was so serious that the records unit could not locate folders for patients.

Patients who were there upon A1 radio’s visit at the hospital could not hold their anger blamed the hospital management for not being proactive in handling the situation. Staff on duty at the time of the light off was also not happy about the situation.

Meanwhile the hospital administrator, George Atampore speaking on A1 radio’s ‘Day break Upper East’ program on Monday said the cause of the power off was a result of underground cable damage at the new OPD.

The light out was however restored on Monday morning for a smooth running of the facility.
