Some residents in the Bolgatanga Municipality of the Upper East Region are calling on authorities to as a matter of urgency fix the street and traffic lighting system within the Municipality.

According to the residents who spoke in a random interview with A1 News, the township lighting system which stopped functioning for over six months now can be attributed to the increase in criminal related cases like armed robbery in the municipality.

Residents say, the non-functional traffic light system is also causing accidents on the roads and need to be addressed immediately.

Ibrahim Musah, a resident of Bolgatanga Municipality said “In the night if you are plying the township roads, it is very sad because all the streets lights are totally off making it difficult for road users and I think Bolga deceives better, authorities responsible must be up and doing because some time back it wasn’t like this, the traffic too went off over a month now and nothing is happening this is not helping us at all and should be addressed as soon as possible”

Maxwell said, “All roads linking the various communities within Bolgatanga Municipality during the night are all dark like a cemetery, including the market completely dark, which is aiding armed robbery every day as well road accident, day-in-day-out, and these are some of the poor developmental issues that are making things difficult for us, I hope you have been plying through some of the traffic terminals you see that they are not working long ago, and nobody is talking about them why? ”

Castrol said, “Leadership are taking the People of Bolga for granted and we must resist, which town in Ghana will you get there in the night and the whole town is totally dark as if there’s light out, and criminal are taking opportunities of that and those responsible seem not to take it serious.”
