A native of Katiu Saa donates furniture to Katiu Primary School

A native of Katiu Saa in the Kassena-Nankana West District of the Upper East Region but based in the United States of America, Richard Avadane has donated 10 dual desks to the Katiu Primary School.

Hitherto the gesture, pupils of the school improvised either by sitting in old but broken furniture while others lie on their bellies to learn during classes hours.

But the support hopes to provide a conducive teaching and learning environment for the pupils and staff of the school.

Mr. Avadane who is an old student of the Katiu Primary School also supported the final year Junior High School students with 20 pieces of exercise books and 100 pieces of face masks to prepare them well enough for the upcoming Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

Making the presentation of the items on behalf of Mr. Avadane at the premises of the primary school, a radio presenter with Radio Builsa, Edmond Kwaching Agwaazeh who is a friend to the philanthropist said the donation is part of Mr. Avadane support to the school as a past student and a community member who has the development of the community at heart especial education.

“When he saw the situation of the school on the internet, it touched his heart and that is why he decided to come to the aid of the school”, he added.

Mr. Agwaazeh said any nation that provides the needed support to education gains from the intellect of the people to develop its economy.

He said the donation will allow children to get access to the right teaching and learning tools and will increase the attendants of the students.

“Mr. Richard Avadane believes that children from poor and needy families are all needed to enjoy education in Ghana equally who would grow and become lawyers, educationists, business entrepreneurs, soldiers, police officers, among other professionals to help build the nation,” he said.

Bernard Afaradaga, Assistant Headteacher of the Katiu Primary School who received the donation on behalf of the school expressed gratitude to Mr. Avadane for his timely intervention and contribution and gave the assurance that the school authorities will take good care of the furniture to achieve its intended purposes.
