The Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly together with stakeholders in the municipality has today December 02 2021, inaugurated a taskforce to embark on revenue generation and another to oversee decongestion exercises in the area.

The membership of the two groups includes Assembly Members, personnel from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana National fire service, National Disaster management organization (NADMO) among other institutions.

According to the Municipal Chief Executive, Rex S. A Asanga, who doubles as the chairman of the decongestion taskforce, the Assembly is concerned about the indiscriminate springing up of unauthorized structures in the municipality hence the need to introduce measures to tackle the situation promptly.

In the same vein, the assembly having realized the importance of revenue mobilization to meet its developmental needs inaugurated the revenue taskforce to address the poor revenue generation.

“It would be recalled that at the 2nd ordinary meeting of the general assembly held a couple of weeks ago. I expressed deep concerns about the indiscriminate citing of unauthorized structures in the municipality and also the dwindling fortunes of the assembly in terms of revenue generation and pledged to adopt re- assured measures to salvage the situation.

The inauguration of the decongestion and the revenue mobilization taskforce today is a clear step of my commitment to dealing with the problem of the unauthorized structures and the poor revenue generation, which are both inimical to the development of this municipality”

Mr. Asanga further noted that the taskforce will also ensure that the wrong parking and unauthorized loading of passengers and goods by vehicles and motorcycles will be addressed.

Some members of the taskforce who spoke in an exclusive interview with A1 News, expressed optimism that the task they are to execute will help develop the municipality.

They are therefore calling on the residents in the municipality to co-operate with the team to work effectively for the progress of Bolgatanga.
