Supt. Rtd. Peter Lanchene Toobu former Secretary to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and current Member of Parliament for Wa West has expressed surprise that State Enforcement Agencies like the Ghana Police Service are being manipulated to pursue cases that should ordinarily be pursued in Civil Courts by persons who are aggrieved.

Mr. Toobu explained that aside the Police’s case against #FixTheCountry Movement, Oliver Barker-Vormowor, all other recent arrest made with regard to faulted speeches and supposed lies should have been handled by the persons who feel offended and not the police.

“All the comments people have made and the arrests they [the Police] have made, apart from the threat of coup from Oliver, are bordered on misdemeanours. A misdemeanour is just a simple ordinary crime and it can even be handled at the magistrate court”.

“Why would you lie against me and I will tell the police to come and arrest you? Why would they [Bobie Ansah] lie against the president’s wife, if indeed that was a lie, and police will go and arrest them? If i were the president’s wife, the police can effect the arrest but in 20 minutes, I will call them and tell them I know they lied against me but they should leave him, I am taking him to court. I am filing a suit against him. Mr. Ibrahim Mahama did the same thing,” he explained.
