The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) growth as well its viability could be said to be the reason for the overwhelming show of enthusiasm that has characterized the election of Polling Sation Executives across the country.

The excitement that greeted the electoral processes may have also degenerated into some distasteful actions across some constituencies in the country. This notwithstanding, the process could be considered as generally peaceful and fair.

The pockets of grievances that have popped up have been likened to the myriad of challenges that would arise in any relationship or marriage.

The Deputy Communications Director of the NPP, Dr. Richard Asante shared these sentiments when he spoke on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East.

“Look at the enthusiasm that has been exhibited all over the country. People from all walks of life, from different kinds of professions, have shown interest. It is quite refreshing to see that”.

“We are a party that agrees to the principles of democracy and competition so we expect that there will be fair value given to every member of the party participating in this process. That is why we are urging individuals and party leadership at the local level where these forms have been made available to make sure that these things are given to our people and we allow fair contest,” he said.

Dr. Asante disclosed that in some constituencies, more than 2,000 nomination forms have already been distributed with others still calling for. This, according to him is a clear indication that the party is still very attractive to the majority of Ghanaians.

He said as a political activist and a politician, he never thought there would be a day when there would be a huge clamour for nominations forms of the NPP in the Volta Region; the supposed ‘world bank’ of the opposition NDC.

He called on leadership and members of the party to sustain the vigour up until the 2024 election where the current President, Nana Akufo-Addo would hand over power to another NPP government.
