Rockson Bukari, a former Upper East Regional Minister and Minister of State at the Presidency has addressed long-standing rumours as MCE and Regional Minister, he amassed wealth and built 3 houses in Bolgatanga; the Upper East Regional capital and Tamale, the Northern Regional capital.

Speaking exclusively on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show yesterday, Friday, July 1, 2022, at his residence in Gambibgo, Mr Bukari explained that the single house he owned was in Gambibgo in the Bolgatanga East District of the Upper East Region, stressing that he could not have used his positions and a public official to amass wealth.

“If I say I do not have a house in Bolgatanga, people think I am telling lies. People were saying I have 3 houses in Bolga, I have a house in Tamale. Me? Rockson Bukari?”

“I used my money to educate my children. Finish! It is an investment. When I die today, would the houses feed them?”

“I do not want to deceive anybody. That is how I live my life,” he said.

Earlier, Rockson Bukari urged Assemblies in the Upper East Region to strategize and scale up efforts at collecting internal revenues that would go towards the local developmental projects. He said over-reliance on the DACF is s recipe for disaster labelling the DACF as a “common problem”.

At the time Mr. Bukari was MCE, the Bolgatanga Municipality was comprised of the Nabdam District, Talensi District, Bolgatanga East District and Bolgatanga.
