The Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Adutwum is said to have responded to the needs of the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) in the Upper East Region. The Zoom meeting was to further meet the needs of the schools after the initial supply of food items.

According to the Upper East Regional CHASS Chairman, Mr. Richard Akumbasi the Minister for Education, Dr. Adutwum gave assurance that his outfit has already asked some emergency food supply team to assist in providing the necessary food items needed in the coming days.

The directive was with immediate effect.

Speaking on A1 Radio, Mr Akumbasi, who chaired the meeting hoped that the assurance will meet the needed demands of each school.

“During the meeting, we were notified by the Minister that the emergency food supply team has been asked to provide the needed food items that each school needs. The directive was with immediate effect, and we are hoping that in the coming days we will be receiving some good news. Although I’m yet to get confirmation from my members, we expect the best from these middlemen.”

“What I’m rather worried about is that these middlemen the quantity of food supply sometimes get reduced as compared to Buffer Stock. For instance, a 50kg bag of maize from them will be like 100kg from Buffer Stock, and this does not help both the schools and the government. But as I said, we hope for the best”, he added.
