General Secretary for the governing National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, popularly known as General Mosquito, has advised new aspirants to be decorous in the electioneering campaign and tackle the problems of incumbent Members of parliament in a brotherly manner in order not to taint the integrity of the political party and the president.

According to him, any aspirant who tackles the problems of any incumbent Member of Parliament to dent his/her integrity is doing the bidding of the New Patriotic Party.

“When our incumbent MPs have problems, let us tackle it in a brotherly manner but if you tackle it in a way that affects the integrity of the party and the president, the individual is doing the work of the NPP.”

Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia was addressing party members at the Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School as part of the president’s Changing Lives and Transforming Ghana tour in the Upper East Region on Thursday.

He mentioned that new aspirants should tackle issues rather than attacking the personality and integrity of the incumbent stating that if they win, four years is too short and that what they do today will come haunting them in the near future.

“You should not attack the integrity of the incumbent Member of Parliament because for now, you do not have a record which people can use against you but if you win, four years is too short and what you did (attacking the incumbent) will come to haunt you.”

The General Secretary noted that the country’s biggest opposition party, NPP, has three electioneering principles which are lies, boycott and demonstrations.

He cited the “Kumepreko” “Let my vote count” among others as demonstrations the NPP has used to distract the NDC but all their efforts have proven futile. He indicated that the NPP voted Freddy Blay as Vice Chairman of the party because he had a lying machinery, Daily Guide, but the machinery is now used against them (NPP) internally.

He called on NDC members to advice their friends in the opposition NPP to bring an end to their internal wrangling or risk the chance to taste power for a very long time.
