Voting in the NDC Parliamentary and Presidential primaries is underway in 15 constituencies the Upper East Region.
In all, 47 candidates are contesting in the fifteen constituencies, with just three being women. Voting in most of the voting centers started at exactly 7:00am and has since been peaceful.
However, constituents of Talensi and Navrongo will not vote because their aspirants, Hon. B.T Baba and Hon. Mark Woyongo respectively are unopposed but there is an acclamation ongoing for the Presidential aspirant.
The Bawku Central constituency, one of the keenly contested seats has fifteen thousand seven hundred and thirty four electorates who are expected to cast their votes in thirty voting centers.
Bawku central Constituency Chairman, Karim Kpadzoi who spoke to a1radio news on our visit to one of the voting centers mentioned that, voting has been peaceful. He indicated that the voting centers were adopted by the party to cut cost and also to smoothen the voting process.
The Bolgatanga constituency has four aspirants including incumbent Opam-Brown, Lawyer Amaliba Abraham, Isaac Adongo and George Gamson.
The Binduri constituency has seen an overwhelming voter turnout with long and winding queues where three aspirants including incumbent, Noah Den Azure, Robert Baba Kuganab-LEM and Stephen Atubiga are contesting.
