Residents have continued to complain about the Uwasi-Fumbisi road’s terrible nature 14 months after they first voiced their concerns.

It would be recalled that in a report carried by this website, the residents along with the Assembly Man for Uwasi spoke about the shoddy work that had been undertaken by Samba Construction Limited, a company purpotedly owned by the Northern Regional Chairman of the NPP, Mohammed Adam Bantima Samba.

In a recent interview on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show, the Presiding Member of the Builsa South District Assembly, John Apaabey explained that the nature of the roads are in an even direr state.

“The contractor for that particular Fumbisi-Uwasi road is Samba Constructions [owned by] the Northern Regional Chairman of the NPP and that has been the problem. Party bigwigs have taken contracts and when they are not able to work, it will be difficult for people like the DCE to be able to talk to him.”

“These are the bigger challenges but he [the DCE, Daniel Kwame Gariba] is also giving the assurances that he is making the follow ups but doesn’t want to give timelines. [He said] he is very sure that the contractor would soon be on site,” he said.

Earlier, The Assemblyman for Uwasi, George Asuyok, expressed disapointment in the inability of the government to facilitate the construction of the road, the Assemblyman explained, “our leaders must bow their heads in shame. Even before the construction of the road, the people were far better We would get a car to Uwasi even in the rainy season but now you cannot even ride or get access to Uwasi.”

Despite claims by Daniel Kwame Gariba, the 2020 NPP Parliamentary Candidate who also serves as the district’s DCE, that the government is interested in finishing the roads, Mr. Asuyok has no faith that the road will be built any time soon.
