The Bolga-Bawku-Polimakom road is about 54 percent complete. This is according to the Authority’s Upper East Regional Director, Philip Samini. He said this when he spoke on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show.

“It is about 54 percent [complete] because of the major bridges that are involved. The road alone itself is about 80 percent or so done but because of the major bridges [it is 54 percent]. The bridges form part of the percentage of progress.”

Mr. Samini continued to say, “Kulaa Bridges, they [the contractor] are still landing the beams. You go to the Tilli River and the Kobore [river], the White Volta, they are launching a completely new bridge over it. [The bridge] spans about 100 metres or so. Before that, they have fixed relieving culverts,” he said.

The relieving culverts are expected to help mitigate the issue of flooding in the area.

The Regional Director added that “the main carriageway towards Polimakom is almost through.”

Meanwhile, the 117.94-kilometre Bolgatanga-Bawku-Polimakom road will be ready and officially opened to traffic in December 2023.

The road passes through Bolgatanga Central, Bolgatanga East, Nabdam, Zebilla, Binduri, Bawku Central and Pusiga constituencies.
