Upper East Region records 3rd highest overall inflation for Northern Ghana

The Upper East Region has recorded the overall third highest inflation for the month of October, 2022 for northern Ghana. This is according to the Ghana Statistical Service’s Consumer Price Index for November 2022. 

The region recorded an overall inflation rate of 39.3 percent as against an inflation of 33.6 in October 2022. The Upper West Region recorded an overall inflation rate of 35.6 percent while the North East Region recorded 42.3. The Northern Region and Savannah Region recorded 34.9 and 47.6 respectively. 

For food inflation, the Upper East Region recorded 41 percent while the Upper West Region recorded a staggering 50.6 percent. The North East region recorded a food inflation rate of 46.4 while the Northern Region recorded a rate of 38 percent. 

The Savannah Region recorded the highest food inflation in Northern Ghana at a rate of 60.3 percent. 

The inflation rate for the non-food basket in the Upper East Region was 38.4 percent. 

Meanwhile, Ghana’s year-on-year inflation rose to 50.3 per cent in November from 40.4 per cent in October, the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) announced.
