The Municipal Chief Executive for the Kassena-Nankana East, Joseph Adongo has declared his intention to contest the parliamentary primaries of the New Patriotic Party in the area when the party opens nominations. Mr. Adongo who served the party as a constituency organiser for the Navrongo Central Constituency said he is conversant with issues of the constituency and best fit for the job.

Mr. Adongo who was speaking to the media said he stands tall among all aspirants who wish to lead the party in the Navrongo Central Constituency to the 2024 general elections.

“I was an assembly member for 3 consecutive times, became a presiding member, an organiser in the party, and became the MCE. What else if I cannot go higher? I have been with the people, worked with the people, I have combed all over and I don’t need anybody to interpret anything for me. I have been loyal and working since I came into the office. If I become the candidate, there is no doubt about me recapturing the seat. I stand tall in any sector in the constituency”

Mr. Adongo was speaking to the media at a ceremony held on 12 February in Navrongo to remember the day the late Joseph Kofi Adda was laid to rest. The MCE described the late Adda as someone who was frank in his dealings, and passionate about “how to help the downtrodden”.

He said he was one of the closest people to the late MP for Navrongo central during the campaign era and therefore, the best bet to win the seat for the NPP in honour of the late Joseph Kofi Adda.

“I have to do that in honour of Kofi because he came to my office, and said, you, this is not your place, I think you should go further and I will help you to work in this office. He told me in the office. He went and never came back. So, I think I have to do this for him to be satisfied in his grave”, the MCE recounted.

Mr. Adongo who hails from the southern part of the constituency and speaks both Kassem and Nankane, languages spoken in the area, indicated that he is someone who is easily reached and stands tall among any aspirant lacing his boot to lead the NPP in the general election.
