As part of measures that could restore lasting peace in Bawku, the Mamprugu Youth in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region have outlined three strategies for addressing the conflict.

The Mamprugu Youth in the Binduri district in a press release sent to A1 Radio say they want the security services and the laws that matter to hold community elders and youth in shooting areas responsible.

Again, they want the establishment of permanent military camps in areas such as Binduri, Pusiga, Zebila, Nayoko, Zabugu, and Mognori to curb the conflict.

The third and last strategy captured in a press release signed by Nashiru W. Bugri, Chief Spokesperson for the Mamprugu Youth in the Binduri district, is advocating for a committee of eminent chiefs to be established to probe and find lasting peace in Bawku.

The Mamprugu Youth in Binduri district say the unending conflict has not only brought untold hardship to the feuding factions, Mamprusis and Kusasis, but several lives have been lost. They say successive governments have put in measures to address the issue; however, those measures have not yielded a positive outcome in addressing the over two-decade conflict.

The worried Mamprugu youth in Binduri district say some bandits have taken undue advantage of the conflict involving the intermarrying tribes to commit crime.
