The Ghana Police Service is informing the public, especially residents of the Upper East Region that the police have deposited about 27 unidentified or unknown bodies at the Upper East Regional Hospital Morgue. These bodies were collected from various locations across the region between the years 2020 and 2023.
While calling on relatives to identify the bodies for collection and burial, the Public Affairs Officer of the Upper East Regional Police Command, ASP David Franko-Okyere in a press release has served notice that authorities of the hospital shall undertake a mass burial of all the 27 bodies in the 21 days if relatives fail to collect the bodies.
He said the exercise to depose the bodies after the period is to allow the hospital to free the space in the morgue in order to enhance the hospital’s morgue operations and also afford relatives to give them a befitting burial.
The statement directed that relatives wishing to identify and collect their bodies are to contact the Medical Director, Upper East Regional Hospital, Bolgatanga or the Upper East Regional Police Command, Bolgatanga for further information.
