The Upper East Regional Communication Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Jonathan Abdallah Salifu, has alleged that, for the past two weeks, basic school pupils in the region have yet to be fed.

According to Mr. Abdallah, the caterers have failed to continue cooking for the students since the resumption of school this year because the School Feeding Secretariat did not pay them for two terms.

Speaking to Mark Smith on the Day Break Upper East Show, the Communication Officer challenged the management of the school feeding program in the region to come out and dispute his claims, as he is ready to produce more evidence to that effect.

“As we speak, since schools reopened on the 11th of this month, no single school in the Upper East region has fed under the basic school feeding program. And you can bring Madam Georgina online and challenge her; I have my facts, and they will soon hear from us. The reason is they haven’t paid the caterers for two terms, they owe them, and they are going for the third term, and the caterers say no, we can’t continue,” he said.

While describing it as a disappointment, Mr. Abdallah attributed the situation to the failure and mismanagement of the country by the NPP government.

The regional coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Program, Georgina Ayamba, who was contacted for a response, said she was in a meeting and would respond at an appropriate time.
