The Upper East Regional Chairman of National Democratic Congress, Alhaji Mumuni Bolnaba, has incurred the wrath of a group called United Residents of Kassena-Nankana East of the region for describing them as “Useless People.”
The group organized a press conference to raise concerns on the construction of their roads by his construction firm Bolnaba Construction Company Ltd. It is said that the road was awarded on contract by the Government under the Cocoa Board Project in November 2011 to facilitate movement of shea nuts in the area but the work appears to be nowhere near completion.
According him, the individuals who organised the press conference should have consulted him for an update on why construction of the road has delayed rather than going ahead to organise a press conférence.
“If you want to do a demonstration, you call the contractor and ask him why the road is not constructed and i tell you why and if you don’t believe then you can go ahead to do what you want,” he angrily told Word FM in Bolgatanga.
He mentioned that opinion leaders of the various communities understand why the construction has delayed but some “useless” people went ahead to organise a demonstration to give him a bad name.
“The chiefs are aware about what i am telling you but there are some useless people go and organize this demonstration and i go and investigate i know the people.”

He indicated that the correct NDC people will not organise a demonstration against their own since he has explained the reason for the delay to the opinion leaders.
“The correct NDC people they won’t do that I know because I explained to them and I can’t come on air and talking by heart. Some people think if they come and talking about the Chairman work my name will spoil,” he said in a rather distorted grammar.
The Regional Chairman’s construction firm, Bolnaba Construction Limited, is constructing a road from the Azasi Primary School to Paul Amenga-Etego Memorial Primary School in Kandiga, whilst Nasona Construction Limited is working on the road from the Kandiga Junction to Azaasi Primary which has since been completed.
The affected communities include Mirigu, Kandiga, Serigu, Manyoro, Nabango Natugnia, and Yua.
In an interview on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East show, Tuesday, the livid chairman defended his spleen and promised he would complete the project before the presidential and parliamentary elections.
